Illustration: an English lecture with Spanish translation
Lecture · 00:12–00:19

A hypothesis is a testable explanation for an observation.

Translation · Spanish

Una hipótesis es una explicación comprobable de una observación.

With audio recording enabled, replay highlights the text being spoken. Audio recording is off by default.

While you write down one explanation, the lecturer has already moved on. In another language, an unfamiliar word can make it harder to follow.

During the lecture and afterwards

Read along as you listen

Live subtitles show the spoken words; translation helps you follow a lecture in another language.

Return to the explanation

Keep the transcript in local history. Enable audio recording before the session to listen again with the current text highlighted.

Use the text your way

Copy the transcript into your preferred AI tool to make a summary, study questions or a draft. You choose the tool and what to share.

Read sources in another language

Translate accessible text under the cursor in articles and study materials. You can keep reading in the same app instead of copying each passage into a translator.

  2. Listen with captions

Start the session. Follow the original speech and its translation on your Mac.

  3. Study from the transcript

Open the session in history. Read or copy the text; replay the audio if you recorded it.

Before you download

Will it make a finished summary?

VerbaIDE gives you the transcript. For a summary, structured notes or study questions, copy the text into your preferred AI tool. That is a separate step.

Can I capture an online or in-person lecture?

Use audio from the lecture app for an online session, or a microphone for a room. Test your setup first: distance, background noise and specialist vocabulary affect recognition. Follow your institution’s recording rules.
