A fine-tuned speech model, on the trial and paid plans

We fine-tuned NVIDIA’s Parakeet on recordings of real Russian and Ukrainian speech with English terms mixed in. Free dictation runs on the standard NVIDIA Parakeet; during the trial and on paid plans it runs on our model.

How we measured: September 21, 2026, recognition on a Mac. Two people whose voices were not in training each read 100 phrases the model had never seen — 200 recordings. Standard Parakeet got 27.2 words out of 100 wrong; ours, 17.7. This measures the version of the model from that time; it is not a promise of the same result for every voice.

What is VerbaIDE?

A menu-bar app for Mac (macOS 14+, Apple Silicon) for putting your thoughts into words and understanding other people’s. Dictate into any text field: hold a key for one phrase, or tap it and the secretary writes down a whole email as you speak — as you said it, or translated into another language. It also shows live translated subtitles during calls, records and transcribes meetings, translates the text under your mouse pointer, and fixes words typed in the wrong keyboard layout. Recognition and translation run on your Mac. Dictation is free forever with no word limit, on the standard NVIDIA Parakeet model. The 30-day trial and paid plans switch dictation to our model, fine-tuned on Russian and Ukrainian speech, and open translation and the other features.

Which languages?

You can dictate in 14 languages: English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Croatian, Slovenian and Romanian. Translation directions depend on the language pair, and the app shows which ones are available. Russian/Ukrainian → English is built in; other directions need their models downloaded.

Where does it type?

Into the active text field: Slack, Gmail, Jira, Notion, an editor or a terminal. Insertion needs Accessibility permission. If a field does not accept the insertion, you can try Paste Last again.

Does my voice leave the Mac?

Recognition, translation and text processing run on your Mac, without sending them to a processing server. Once the models are downloaded, plain dictation works offline.

What about an accent or mixed speech?

Mixed Russian-English speech is normal input — technical words stay as they are.

How fast is it?

Text appears about a second after you release the key for a short message; a longer one takes a little more. Tap the key briefly and the secretary starts: the text lands in batches as you speak.

Will the price change?

Prices can change for new purchases; what you already bought is not affected. Lifetime stays lifetime, and a yearly subscription keeps its price until you cancel it.

Does Smart Keyboard see what I type?

Only after you enable Smart Keyboard and grant Accessibility. Processing stays on your Mac: memory holds the current word, up to 15 preceding words in the sentence and the last fix. Some fixes read up to 64 characters around the cursor, then discard them. Typed text is not recorded in history, logs or sent anywhere. Words you undo are kept in your local exception list. Secure input hides password keystrokes from the app.

How does billing and cancellation work?

Annual is charged at purchase and renews automatically every year at the price shown until you cancel; cancelling stops future renewals and you keep access until the paid year ends. Lifetime is one payment, once, with no renewal. The 30-day free trial is separate and does not depend on a plan: it starts after you sign up in the app, needs no card, and when it ends the paid features lock — nothing is charged automatically. Every paid purchase is covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee. Paddle, our reseller and the merchant of record, handles the actual charge, receipts and cancellation.
